Hi all,
On the lens I just bought, stopping down to the white dot results in a slight
reduction in aperature between 35 and about 50mm, and then no more between 50
and 70. At f/3.5, it is a constant size throughout the focal length range,
and from 5.6 on, it is progressively smaller as focal lenth increases. All is
well, I hope?

<<once you stop it down to F4.5 (which is marked by a white dot), the aperture
no
longer shifts with focal length. Most variable speed zooms have a constant
aperture shift over the entire aperture range when you zoom them.>>
