What they have been saying is that, with the unification, there's no
logic behind extending duty-free between countries in the EC --
economically, anyway, you're not changing counties. This is apparently a
very big business, I guess similar to what would happen if I could drive
>from Jersey to Pennsylvania for duty-free goods.
I don't think this closes the shops entirely -- non-EC travellers will
certainly still qualify. Still, there's a movement against this, you see
signs about it all over European airports.
