Subject: [OM] Re: OM Bellows on Pen
"Yes the setup would be limited to macro, but tilts and swings would
be useful on macro shoots as well. Using the Pen with OM lenses would
give the angle of coverage that would be missing using this on a 35mm
body...."
Apart from lens coverage, the other restriction I noticed from my earlier
experiments was the internal diameter of the bellows which prevented much
movement.. Using an OM body would be useful (particularly as I don't have a
Pen F/FT any more) if only for its reliable macro flash exposure system. You
could then select a half frame section of the best area of the resulting
slide and remount it, when it would be indistinguishable from a Pen slide.
The film wastage would be offset by the reduced need to bracket.
I do have supicions though that tilting any Zuiko off axis will cause a
rapid decline in image quality and I'm wondering if a lens of simpler
construction wouldn't be more suitable - an enlarger lens perhaps,
especially one designed for a larger format, if it's all restricted to
macro distances anyway. A 39mm thread adaptor came with my BPM bellows and I
may try it if I can clear enough space in the clutter.
