That is exactly what I did. Except instead of getting an OM-2S, I bought
an OM-PC (OM-40), the other OM model with program mode. So far, it has
worked out just fine, and it really is as simple as focus and shoot. We
replaced an aging Olympus P&S with the OM-PC and almost everyone is
happy -- and yes, we found we have to lock the focus quite often with the
P&S anyway, because it is always pointing at the wrong place. The one
major complaint with the OM is "no builtin flash".
