What I have done in the past (with even more dangerous animals in Kenya) is pre
focus the lens at
the spot, mount a long cable release (as long as you can inless you can afford
a remote control one,
and they are very expensive). place the bait. lay down a little away from the
camera and watch until
the "target" reaches the spot you pre focused on and fire away. Using an auto
advance device such as
a winder is a great help. I find messing with the camera at the time the animal
is waiting to be too
time consuming and usualy the animal will hear you and/or get scared and run
off. Unless he's
hungry, in which case, you are the bait..:)
but dont worry, if you are using a 4T or 3T, the titanium will be very hard to
digest, so at least
the camera will survive, but it will come out from the other end....
