all the recent 50mm macro posts have made me come out of hibernation
again. while i don't really believe in catch phrases like "bokeh," i
really think the 50/3.5 exhibits the fabled description. the slides i
take with the 50/3.5 just pop out from all the rest. a portrait i took
at close distance (5-7 feet) of a man in nepal has the effect of 3-D'dom
that Leica people seem to talk about. Aaaah, bokeh? super sharp, super
great colors, superman, etc. i love it with kodachrome. (not that the
results are that different with other films, but i felt like stating
it....) considering it costs a penny compared to other zuiko lenses, i
think it's an incredible bargain.
i wonder if it just has to do with the design of the slower macro lens?
i bought an old nikon FT-2 setup a while back, sold almost as long ago,
that had 3 lenses, one of which was a 55/3.5 nikkor makro! it had the
same sort of effect as the zuiko, only it was bigger.....
i may start looking for a new one (zuiko) soon, as mine is tattered and
tired.
snooz, snooz.
oh well, back to sleep.
