Hmmn, I wonder if recent results indicating a nonzero neutrino mass
will affect the behaviour of those weights?   Or how about a new 
defense from bad minilabs: "It's not our fault, a passing gravity wave must
have affected your light meter!".

p.s. Just to keep this on-topic(ish) I find that contrary to my
  expectation, shooting on auto makes me think *more* about
  exposure---I'm still thinking "do I need to correct that
  reading?", and twisting a compensation dial takes more thought than
  just tweaking aperture or shutter to bias the reading...
