Matthias,
I believe a very strong case could be made that plastics production is
several orders of magnitude more pollutant than metal production. I
think the key here is forming costs for plastic are almost nothing in
comparison to metal fabrication.
Also, in many instances, plastic is better, lighter, non-corrosive and
still cheaper. Now, if there would only give more thought to it's
appropriate use!
