Yes, I was using the self timer often on my field trip to the Arctic.
With OM-4t on a DIY ext batt pack, there were no problems.
The reason for using the self-timer? On most of my trips I was alone,
and in theory having a person cunningly positioned in the frame helps
composition a lot in those featurless, snowy plains. Guessing where to
stand, and jumping there in 10 seconds while on skis an hauling a 40kg
sled behind, is a different story, however...
