I enjoyed your insightful musings very much Ulf as they parallel many of 
the thoughts I have about the advanced automation one supposedly can't do 
without these days.

I frequently read that extremely quick autofocus such as Canons is 
especially useful for action sports yet equally read that many pro sports 
photographers don't use this feature and pre-focus instead.

Ever watched those press conferences on TV and the still photographers with 
their AF wonderbricks  manually focusing their lenses?

Makes you wonder.
