OM-1 as reliable? Hum, I just did a banquet shoot Thursday. I took four
cameras. A previously trusty OM-1 locked up solid when I tested it a 2 fps
with a Winder 2 - so it stayed home. The OM-1n I took instead had a sticky
meter needle when held in vertical position. The OM-4 had the hot shoe come
too loose to trust a T-32 on it. The OM-2n with Bounce Grip 2 performed
flawlessly (good thing I got a dust ball out of the corner of the film plane
opening - it cast an out of focus shadow on my previous roll). The IS-10DLX
worked like a charm, except that by the time the Auto-S flash had made its
preflashes the subject had moved in 500f the shots.
Too much deferred maintenance, I reckon.
Best lenses for the occasion: the 35-105mm f/3.5~4.5 Zuiko and the IS-10DLX
with the 28-110mm, and a 28 mm f/2.8 on a remotely controlled camera
positioned in front of the stage entertainment.
