I'd suggest retesting the camera with "known good" batteries to be sure about
the electronics. There is a procedure to "reboot" the computer in a -2S or
-4(Ti), but I don't know how you'd do it with a -3. You can consult the FAQs
about the procedure. (

$350 would be a good deal if the camera is working; may not be much of a deal
if serious repairs are required. The -3 has no electronics at all in common
with the -2(N) series, and though it's more closely related to the -2S, the
main circuits are different.
