I find the OM-1 viewfinder, with a 1-series screen, *almost* as bright as my
OM-2S or OM-4 with the 2-series screen. I presume this is due to the light
loss in the OM-2S/4 for the metering (semi-solvered mirror). The OM-1
viewfinder also has noticeably higher magnification, which may account for
some of my perceptions.
FWIW, I have no problem focusing with the 2-series screens. In dim light, and
with slow lenses, they make focusing with the OM-2S or OM-4 *much* easier. I
do find focusing the 200/4 with 2x-A combination easier with the 1-8, though.
Maybe I need to try a 2-4 (I only have the 2-13 so far). Or maybe one of those
Beattie screens. With a grid. Yeah....
