I know that the Bahamas is not a myth, or at least it wasn't in 1983, when I
was there. There seemed to be equal numbers of camera stores and liquor
stores, which averaged about 2 per block of each in Nassau. My Dad bought
some lenses there, and I recall they were *way* cheaper than in Miami or
back home, due to very low taxes and duty.
And one could buy Canadian Whiskey and beer at less than half the cost we
could at home...
Of course this may be different now.
