Hi all--
I've been following the tripod thread and thought I'd throw in. I have an old
Tiltall tripod that is all aluminum: leg tubes and machined head parts are
just buffed, with no paint, anodizing or plating to chip or wear. It's VERY
sturdy, although not exactly a flyweight. A buddy of mine picked up an
identical one at a Photorama show for $25 in decent shape recently. The
Tiltall company is still around. I got a couple of new repair parts just a
couple of months ago and also heard that the tripods are still in production.
I don't know if they are the same no-nonsense tough piece that the old ones
were, but it might be worth checking out for those of you looking for a solid
platform.
