Dear Zuikophiles
I might be one of the more persistent lurkers hiding in
this list (anybody to challenge 12 months?): every problem
I've had so far with my OMs had been discussed in the list,
just-in-time, without any intervention from my side. Great!
This time, however, you seem to let me down --- I therefore
have to resort to writing a message to the list myself.
It hurts a bit to change the long-established habit, but
here we go:
I have come across a good (by UK standards) deal on a tatty
looking 35-70/3.6 a couple of months ago, and based on the
enthusiasm about the lens on this list I just had to have it.
On close examination afterwards, I'm very pleased with the
lens. The metal body is fine, and the glass, after a bit of
cleaning, turned out to be great. I'm _very_ happy with the
optical performance.
Unfortunately, both the zoom- as well as the focusing rubber
rings are in a bad state --- hard, cracking, and I don't
doubt that one day they'll fall off the lens altogether.
Does anybody know where I could find replacement rings? Or,
alternatively, is there anything to be done to revive the
rubber material?
Also, I haven't been successful in my hunt for the original
lens hood yet; if anybody has a spare one for sale, I'd be
very interested.
Thomas
