The camera diaphragm lever would need to fight this in order to stop the
camera down. So another spring acts as a counter spring to the first spring
putting the whole affair in some type of balance. Then the camera diaphragn
lever moves with very little effort because the springs are in balance. Of
course, if the springs are in balance or nearly so, it won't take much oil to
slow the diaphragm down.
