I have tried the Varimagnifier as a focussing aid in astro work and, for me,
it is useless. I even tried this weekend to use it for some eyepiece
projection shots of sunspots and still found it less than helpful, so it is
definitely not a matter of not enough light! And this is with a Beattie
intenscreen for a bright viewfinder image to start with.
It is helpful for copy work and tabletop macro shots, but for astro photo I
do not find it helpful.
