<<Thanks for the review. I recently acquired a 21/2 in 9+ condition glass, 7
condition cosmetic. It ain't pretty, but it performed quite well on the star
tests I did a while back (distortion gone at f/2.8)>>
As they say, ugliness is only skin deep. Someone had suggested tightening the
focusing ring on their 135/3.5 by taking off the rubber sleeve and tightening
the little screws. Mine on the 200/3.5 was wobbly so I did this and it worked
beautifully. It only took about a 1/2 turn to fix it. As long as I had the
sleeve off, it took it to the sink and scrubbed the diamond rubber ribbing
with a toothbrush and dish soap. After it dried I applied a coat of ArmorAll
on it and put it back. The lens body was polished with Meguiar's car cleaner
with toothpicks and Q tips. Voila, Cinderella was revealed and beauty came
back skin deep as well. This is a good thing to do to pass the time at 2:00
am when it's too dark to shoot photos.
PS. Sorry for all the trade names. ArmorAll is a plastic and rubber
protectant., Meguiar's is a non-abrasive car cleaner, and Q tips are cotton
swabs.
