the first release of AF Nikkors used (mostly) the SE (budget line of Nikon
- not deserving "Nikkor" name - lenses) optical parts. Nowdays the AF are
upgrading to AF-D and they do use the very same Nikkor AIs optics. It seems
very like Nikon itself did not believe to a real pro use of AF stuff, at
least till F4 was issued.
