>>My friend is now quite drawn to the P*nt*x K1000, is this a good
choice and do you reckon I should stop with the Olympus hard sell
on her?>>
The Pentax K1000 is a typical 'student' camera. Additionally, at some point
production was switched to China, at a considerable loss of quality. The
OM1n is a superior camera; better built, MLU, takes motor drives,
interchangeable screens, etc. Although there's that little battery problem,
which is not insurmountable. Perhaps she'll be using a handheld meter?
I'm puzzled at the various dealers' comments about lack of lenses. I think
Oly lenses are at least as available as Pentax K-mount lenses; at least the
better quality lenses.
Of course the ultimate manual Olympus body is the OM3, available for around
$500. She should really consider the OM2n also, even though it can be used
on auto.
