Very true. When comparing, say, 4x5 equipment with 35mm equipment the
primary advantage of the 4x5 is ultimate control: control over swings,
tilts, shifts, etc. However, the swings and tilts are required because of
the longer focal length. With my 35/shift I have incredible control over
DOF in product photography but it is true that I have to stop down to >F16
to do it. With my Mamiya 6x7, the swings and tilts allow me to use a larger
lens opening to keep most of the subject in focus. Being able to use F11
instead of F22 is an advantage sometimes...
