eg petals of flowers being rendered as long squiggly bars not recognizable
as a flower petal.  The slides i have that exhibit this were shot at
f/2.8 and f/4 at close focus with the f/2.8 wide angles.  

for landscape work, where you will be stopped down, the main advantage
of the f/2 lenses is just a brighter image to focus (and shallower
depth of field wide-oepn helps focus too).

you want to consider the f/2 lenses if you need to do handheld available
light work, such as interiors, dawn or dusk shooting handheld etc. 
for most applications, you don't need the floating element wide angle
lenses-- jsut close-focus at or near wide open.
