I would tend to agree with John BUT if you insist I would look for a DRY
silicone spray, such as Permatex. We sell these for items that need
lubrication but that cannot tolerate a dust-catching residue.
Remote-controlled dampers, etc.
The catalog says 'stops sticking, friction, squeaking, and binding of
moving parts; non-gumming'. Of course, don't spray it on the lens; spray it
on a cloth and rub it on the mount.
