Jim, I've owned an XA and XA4, and used my Mother's XA2. I found both
the XA and XA2 lenses to be so-so. The XA4 was pretty good, but I wish
it had manual controls, like the original XA. What I was really looking
for was a much smaller but just-as-good substitute for the Canonet 1.7's
and Konica Auto S2 I had been using, and I never really found it in the
XA series. Also, the clamshell design was innovative at the time, but
now (to my eye)seems a little frumpy next to some current P&S cameras.
That can't be said for the OM's, still a very pretty package after
almost 30 years.
