Every quality lens maker corrects the slight variations of diffraction
value of the bulks of optical glass they buy with variations of
curvature/design of the elements. In this way they obtain good uniformity.
Of course if a highest quality manufacturer also trys to optimize the lens
by matching the best combos of elements this should lead to an even better
uniformity of production quality.
