There are implements to repair dented filter housings.

Under the circumstances, I would venture to say you probably did overpay
for the 50/f3.5. No single thing devalues a lens more than bunged up filter
threads. Oh well. I hope you get it fixed and enjoy it. Enjoy it long
enough and it won't owe you anything.
