The 28-70/f3.5-4.5 is one of the last lenses released under the Kiron
name, and while optically pretty good, it's rather plasticky and quite
inexpensive (I see them go used for $60-75). A much better choice in
this focal range, and one of my all time favorite aftermarket zooms, is
the Kiron 28-85/f2.8-3.8.
