The needle in OM-1 through 2Ns rests on a post. With age, the post and
needle may pick up some tackiness causing it to stick. Sometimes the action
of the needle coming to rest constantantly in the same place, cuts a tiny
notch in the post which helps to hold the needle and restrict it.
Same can happen in the red zone of a 2-2N.
