Hi folks,
I have worked many years with an OM1 with a 50mm/f1.8 SC
with excellent results. Recently I have bought an Olympus OM4Ti
with a 50mm/f1.2. Why 1.2?
-Shallower depth of field.
-Faster.
-Brighter image in the viewfinder plus the new "2-13".
Now, I have made a trip through Europe and I have taken
360 photographs with the same sharpness than my old Zuiko but
contrast is much better than my predecessor. I think that when
you have to say something about, you need to have both and take
many snaps in order to make a good balance and decide. I have to
say that its a little more heavier but now I have got used to it
and I can´t see the difference. Another thing, I have taken some
photos at f1.2 with Ektachrome and after I have seen them with my
projector and they were very impressive. You can lose sharpness at
f1.2 but when you see the overall picture, with rich colour and
contrast, is when you can say why Zuiko have better performance than
Nikon high-contrast elements; and now making use of the old message
"Experience with Olympus America" imagine! I have bought a Zuiko
50mm/1.2, stored since 04/84 and is much better than Leica Sumilux
50mm/f1.x.
I learnt a good thing from someone of you into Olympus
mailing list. Resolution is good but content is everything!
I give you some test if you don´t like personal experiences. :-)))
