Anyone know what exactly these two solutions consist of? They have to be
pretty simple and inexpensive to do yourself. This would be nice info to
have in the FAQ.

There is a gadget called an MR-9, but I understand they are hard to get.

H. (Camtech) makes an internal modification to the OM-1 which allows you
to
use silver oxide batteries (357 or SR44) directly. This, I think, is the
