Nothing to do with exposure, but I find the lens works very well indeed with extension tubes, not much distortion especially compared with 50mm standard. The 50 1.4 (not sure about 1.8) produces a very noticeable tail-off at the edges, the more extensions you put on the worse it gets. A very old OM brochure does state that the 100 2.8 has close focus correction, though the later ones do not.
