Congratulations on your nEW 'WOODIE'.
As to the HEAD for the TRIPOD, considering YOU are doing
NIGHT Photography, a REGULAR pan snd tilt head with three
rotating handles and a quick change plate eg., the MANFROTTO
141RC /BOGEN 3030 would be best.

The problem with a BALL HEAD is, it flops in any direction
when loosened and with a camera+ long lens it can hurt the
camera or your wrist.
The regular head gets moving in one plane with the handle in
your hand/ control. It is much easier and accurate to
position.

Try out the various heads you can get in a professional
store.
