They are not banned here (yet).
I have been told by *some* camera stores (trying to sell me a 625A for
my OM-1) that Hg cells are either banned, or "no longer made", but I
can still buy them at several of the better stores here.
I believe a worldwide *production* cease (either voluntary or
mandated?) takes place at end of 1998.
