Olympus Shooters:
I had an OM-1 at John Hermanson's place for service when he announced the
availability of a modification for $5 over the cost of the overhaul to
allow the use of a 357 battery . So I arranged to have this done to my camera.
Unlike the MR9, which is an adapter the size of the old mercury battery and
can be removed, John's mod involves a beveled plastic ring which is glued
into the battery cup so that a 357 fits neatly and securely. I'm not sure
how John modifies the circuit to make the 1.5 volt battery work properly.
John, can you explain?
Anyway, I like this option and will have it done to my other OM-1 when the
time comes for service.
Cheers,
Joel
