He's correct. Because above 1/60 the entire film surface is never exposed at
once, the reading is taken from the back of the shutter curtain just prior** to
exposure. If you take the lens off, then operate the timer, you'll see the
pattern on the curtain when the mirror locks up.
** Or is it still during exposure, but part of it is off the film, part off the
curtain?
At least that's my understanding of it...
