Thats one interpretation but If I was in an influential position in
Oly Japan I would be thinking that having the OM SLR system has just
brought home a new business opportunity.
If I had been thinking of letting the system just quietly die out I
might reconsider the wisdom of abandoning completely a whole segment
of the overall market for optical equipment. Surely there is a
significant degree of specialised industrial capability required to
produce exemplary 100mm + size lens elements? Would a company
willingly deprive itself of the capability?
If my intention had been to maintain a presence in the SLR
market then I would be thinking that this only confirmed the wisdom
of doing so.
