Yes, many have corrected me on this. What happened was that when my 4T was
young, I was doing some tripod shooting toward the ground with a high sun behind
me. I used the self timer and did not bother to shield the rear of the camera
from the sun. Turned out there was a light path to the film thru the eyepiece
evidenced by fogged streaks on those exposures. Oly fixed the camera under
warranty (although the warranty had officially expired, it seemed obvious to
them it was a manuf defect.)
I decided as insurance I would get the eyepiece folding cover. I knew light
coming in thru the eyepiece could affect meter readings, but forgot the obvious
- that the mirror would block that path to the OTF sensors during exposure.
