At the risk of repeating myself, let me say again: the Canon T60 and
the OM2000 are two completely DIFFERENT cameras.
The OM2000 is sold as an entry level camera -- mostly to students and
other first-time SLR owners (and so is the Ricoh KR-5 Super II, for
that matter). As simple and foolproof as these cameras are, never
underestimate the ability of a photographic rookie to mishandle
his/her photogear.
AFAIK, all Cosina bodies are made in Japan. Being a great admirer of
the japanese manufacturing prowess and quality control, I'm inclined
to attribute 98 percent of the OM2000/Ricoh KR-5 returns to human
factors (read: ignorant users). I am convinced that serious amateurs
and pros should experience very few problems. Long term reliability
however remains to be seen, so when in doubt -- buy a clean OM-1.
Cheers,
