You'd better use a second flash for the background. Reflecting flash
light on the ceiling (if there) is a kind of solution, not *the*
solution. With a Metz 45 CT5 or CL4 you have a main light that you can
tilt on the ceiling and a small one directed to subject. You'll need a
sca 321 (or 520 adapter) with these flashes for OTF.

For this you need only to use wider apertures with your F280. Another
OTF flash will not help you more. F280 is an OTF flash.
