What's the deal? I'm looking through my latest National Geographics and I
see wide angle shots that have horrible distortion around the edges. I used
to get that distortion with my 28/3.5 that I got rid of, but I rarely get
any visable distortion in my wide angle shots with either a 35-70 zoom,
35/shift or 24/2.8. Several of the published pictures look like they were
taken with lenses in the 21-28mm range.
What causes this distortion? How is it that we can minimize it? Or is it a
"feature" of the vastly "superior" Nikkors that we should actually be
mimicking?
Inquiring minds (yes, both of mine) want to know.
