Although I must admit I've been far too busy lately to do more than scan the
list, I must say the following for those looking for a new lens:
The Zuiko 85/2 is superb!!
It's now been about 6-8 rolls since I started really using it, and I think I
swapped it for a 35 or a 135 maybe twice in that time. The 135/3.5 was just a
test to see if I could tell the difference in the prints. (I couldn't really,
except for the distinct 'bokeh' which appears in certain shots with the 85/2.
The sharpness and colour seem very close)
A few 8x10s revealed 3 things about using this lens:
1. The contrast is superb.
2. The sharpness is superb also, but DOF is *very* shallow with close portraits
at f/2.8 or f/4. Careful focus and/or stopping down to 5.6 or 8 is called for.
3. The bokeh is superb, and even at f5.6 or f8, still has a nice soft but
sparkling quality to it... This surprised me - I always thought one had to
shoot at f/4 or wider to see this effect.
I have posted a few shots on my web pages, but haven't scanned some of the best
ones yet.
ps: Anyone know the difference in Fuji's new Reala? They are selling a two pack
here - one roll 36 of the old Reala, and a 24 roll of the new Reala.
