So chaps, have we decided whether isopropyl alcohol is good for cleaning lenses
if we have to rub the lens at all to get a grease mark off, or does it degrade
the coating? I am afraid I lost the thread of the thread ;-) between the
denatured alcohol, organic solvents and methanol discussion amongst you, my more
learned Zuiko brethren ... I bought a little bottle of Hama lens cleaning
solution in the early 80s which turned out to be isopropyl alc. and I have used
it ever since for the odd little rub (no comments about Zuikoholics or
references to Viagra please ;).
I thought that Hans' summary of the value of reflex lenses was a good one. He
did not mention that the out-of-focus highlights was a rather clichéd device at
one time, but which might look quite attractive now, used sparingly as for
everything (well nearly everything!)
BTW for Kristine, I'm a military pilot, but I would dearly love to become a pro
photog, using the best of OM and Zuiko - what bliss - but I'm afraid that the
spirit is willing but the artistic flesh is pretty useless most of the time.
Chris
