Good idea for a new topic!
I've been shooting slides for 25 years and have never relied on much more than
my Agfa 8X loupe, and good clear slide protector pages. I have projectors,
etc., but seldom use them for other than the dreaded vacation slide shows. I
have light boxes but usually just lean back in my chair. For my personal
enjoyment, I just select slides to have Cibachromes made out of (about 1 print
per each 100 slides) and hang them up. I buy the least expensive black metal
frames from Target, WalMart, etc. and give them away when I tire of them and
run out of space. All of my friends and relative have prints. They'll
always hang them up if you give them a frame.
BTW, mounting your own slides is a lot of tedious work and I seemed to scratch
them when I mounted them. The cardboard iron-on mounts were easier for me to
use than the plastic ones that you have to bend and slide the slide in. The
plastic clip together ones are OK however. I did my own slide processing for
20 rolls and mounted them myself--much more trouble than its worth.
