Hello Artur.
You will need one of the three available power sources, because they
also contain the electronics for switching your drive (on/off,
single/sequence etcetera). OTOH, if you have no batteries or 'dead'
ones in your NiCad-pack you can connect any other 12-15 volt power
source by means of a so called relay cable (which goes between the
power source and the motor drive).
If you want automatic rewinding, the MD-2 is the only drive to use. If
you can do it by hand, the MD-1 will do its job almost as adequately.
Only drawback here (when working with big tele or macro lenses) is
that the MD-1 does give slightly more vibrations. The MD-2 has two
motors spinning in opposite directions which subdue those vibrations).
