Hi Andre:
I'm glad I didn't make the trip to the show, although it would have been
interesting to run into Paul. I'd probably bring non-OLY trade stuff, in
which case I would not have found the combination of a dealer who wanted both
my stuff and had OLY stuff I wanted.
Instead I hit a local garage sale bonanza in which an entire real estate
development advertised "in mass" that it was their official garage sale day.
I had just read Doris's write-up in the FAQ about garage sales for any tips.
Despite being a garage sale regular, I've pesimistically discounted my gal's
suggestion that I ask folks if they had camera equipment that isn't displayed
for sale. Plus I never see anything but plastic fixed focus cameras at $35 or
so. But upon seeing a Beseler C23II with a Rogonar-S 75 mm enlarging lens
(and a 50 mm Beseler, plus neg carriers) for $200US (nope, didn't get), I
figured I'd ask. The hubby said "Nope" but wife was heading our way and
caught me listing what I was looking for. She is an OLY user and went back in
for a OM-1n chrome. Said it was worth $120, but than asked $70. I checked it
out for accurancy and problems, gave a sad tale about the need for an MR-9
adapter and finally paid $60. It is 1-2 stops off (with any proper voltage)
and had the requisite worn areas so I won't feel like I'm carrying a showcase
piece.
Not bad for 1 mile from home.
