There are also the 35-70/3.5-4.5 AF and the 35-70/3.5-4.5 PF.
The 35-70/4 Auto Focus is optically identical to the 35-70/4.

If you put a 1.4x TC on the 50 lens you'd get more DOF than a 70
position of a zoom and maybe a better quality.

I do think it is worse... comparable to the tele-converted 50mm.

The 35-70/4 Autofocus lens can be used on all OMs.
The 35-70 AF lens can be used on 77 and 88 only.
The 35-70 PF lens can be used on 88 only (some people say 77 too, but
I don't agree).
If you need a 70 mm lens, and not a real zoom, a 1.4x TC (that doesn't
cut off the OM 4 memory tab) could be your solution.
