I have an external battery pack for my winder 2 for cold days. Haven't
used it much, but carry it with me just in case the batteries get too cold
in the camera/winder. It tucks in your inside pocket and connects to the
winder by cable.
The ext. bat. pack may still be available from Olympus.

P.S.: Question: Is the 72-exposure Ilford HP5 B&W film still available in
Europe? Has anyone used it with the winder before?

I'd try with keeping the camera cold and fresh batteries. And take the
hassle of changing to warm batteries when necessary. Keeping a warm camera
warm
on a extended trip is very hard to do.
