The same happened to me recently. When succeeding in detaching the lens
(dunno how), I found the small screw axial to the bayonet, more or less
opposite to the red mounting dot, missing. This lens seems to work well,
but yes, can rotate past the usual point, clockwise and counterclockwise
too. Mine is a 35-70 3.5-4.5.
