Hi all:
Regarding shooting the 80 mm Macro Zuiko at 1:1, I've heard:
<< at >1X, you would want to use a focusing rail. >>
<< Hmmmm.... well you definitely need a focussing rail as moving the camera
about hend held with flash is a definite art unless you have a cybernetic arm
and nail it to a post. >>
I haven't the Close-Up lens for the 80 mm, nor the Auto Bellows, so I haven't
ventured into microphotography. One hardly gets a calm day in the field, so I
would imagine this to be near impossible to do in field conditions. I
wouldn't have the patience to wait for a lull in the breeze! As it is, I've
adopted a technique 180 degrees different than the focusing rail/tripod collar
concept: I grab the plant and move IT instead. I hear you about the need for
a strong arm! I'll generally mount my setup on a tripod and very near the
plant. Then I hold the plant just out of view and rotate/adjust the position
of the flower or other part I wish to photograph.
This is kind of a poor man's approach to the tweezers on an arm contraption
I've seen advertised at one time!
